As I was searching for a seminary education, I desired something reformed, theologically practical, and cost effective. City Seminary has provided me all those things that I was searching for and more. I researched numerous seminaries, but felt they were impractical because I had recently graduated from college and already owed lots of money. It would have been expensive for me to pay my student loans and pay for seminary simultaniously. As I researched Seminaries, I found none that were taylored to individuals who had a family and full time employment. I seeked to share stories and learn from experienced ministers in hopes of building strong relationships. City Seminary fits all the needs I was searching for and has been a blessing to me. I strongly encourage anyone who shares my same desires to consider City Seminary.

I come from a background in sales; my first career path upon leaving school. Desiring a more stable working condition to allow for my young and growing family, I moved into law enforcement where my knack with people could be applied and further developed. My time in criminal justice opened my eyes to the needs of the community, especially those challenged by the disadvantages of society. Coming from humble beginnings and poverty myself, I guess my heart was attentive to this area of urgency. Due to Gods providence I was allowed to develop an acute understanding of these conditions which helped to assist my determination for ministry. My world fell apart and I was placed in the center of one of the hardest hit groups of our society... I became homeless and lived as such for years. Instead of becoming resigned and bitter, my resolve was made stronger with a focused understanding of the things that are of value; love, mercy, and compassion. For me, seminary is just an added step in the preparations necessary for "My Father’s Business."
I knew that God wanted me to continue my education. I prayed that He would open a door that would allow me to get really grounded in the word and allow me to be ready for full time ministry. I applied at two well known biblical colleges in the Chicagoland area and with a wife and 5 children at the time I couldn't afford either. Discouraged by this news I just continued to pray. I was introduced to LAMP City Seminary and I am forever grateful for God closing two doors to open this door for me. I have been challenged doctrinally and biblically and I am continuing to grow in both grace and knowledge. I am where I need to be and I would encourage anyone who is serious about studying God's word and considering full time ministry or leadership within a church to come join us at LAMP City Seminary.
